And that slowing allows the CPS to see the two tooth gap on the left flywheel?
I don't think the slowing makes any difference on the gap.. Ignition sees it as long as the flywheel is turning.. The slowing is not as drastic as the gap. The ignition still needs the gap to figure the position of the crank. Where the slow down is, in reference to the crank, is where the ignition / efi figures that the rear cylinder is on compression.
Being a retired EE with some embedded background, it would be cool to see the code for the device.
New Crank Sensor, new battery, new coil pack, 12v to the center pin from ignition module to coil pack, cranking strong, still no spark. I guess its time to send it to a shop. I suspect its the ignition module still. I will let you all know once its running what the issue was. thanks for the responses

Do you have compression in the rear cylinder and the spark plug in?
Is it an early 2001? It might still have a cam position sensor. Not sure the exact month but sometime in '01 they omitted that cam position sensor. Is there a wire coming from the front of the cam cover? If so, that might be your problem.
