Default Gas indicator problem

My gas indicator on a 06 dyna doesn’t seem to work anymore.

I have a speedometer with built in gas indicator and sold my left gas cap with led indicators, didn’t needed two that did the same job. Without thinking anymore about it, I removed my tank the same time when I disconnected the left gas cap. So, I haven’t tried to see if the indicator on the speedometer still work without the left cap connected before I removed the tank.

Now, after reinstalling the tank and connected everything properly, the indicator on the speedometer doesn’t work.

My question is: do I have to connect a left gas cap with gas indicator for my speedometer to work?

Try riding your bike and look down at the speedo.

It’s still ice on the road here
I did start the bike and left it running for 10 minutes and shaked the gas tank as well. Nothing happened.

Did you connect the signal line (yellow/white wire) from the sender to the new speedo?

No, I haven’t. Should I? It’s kinda stupid of hd if that’s the problem. It worked perfectly with the left gas cap connected.

What's the amount of fuel in the tank? Probably the level is to high to activate the indicator in your speedo?

Have you checked if connector 141B is still making good contact?

Do you have a signal at connector 39B pin 10 when the fueltank is almost empty?

The figures in the wiring diagram at the fuel sender state the ohms when checking with a multi meter.

It’s half a tank or more. I’ve double checked all of the connectors twice now so I’m sure they are connected properly. I’m not sure of the 141. I don’t have the left fuel cap

Now check if you get a signal at both connectors....
