Default 88 ci engine temp.

First off I ride a 2006 FXDI35, and I live in S.W. Fl and never had a temp gauge on board, now that I installed a P.V.1. I am using one. Seems on Ave. right now w/ 80-85 degrees temps I'm seeing approx. 250 to 275 none traffic in town riding, and in traffic she goes up around 350 or so. So when is it pull over, over heating time?

So the numbers you're referencing; is it engine temperature <ET> or is it cylinder head temperature <CHT>? There's one lone sensor located on the front cylinder head; that data is displayed as engine temperature in the Power Vision. Cylinder head temperature is an algorithm based on ET and the intake air temperature <IAT>.

Due to the lone sensor's location the Dyna isn't exactly truthful about true head temperatures which is why the algorithm for CHT is used. And the rear cylinder? Who knows. If you are seeing displayed engine temperatures at 350°, yea, that's hot, especially for an 88".

Keeping your ride cool is a multi layered approach; great tune, free flowing exhaust, free flowing A/C venting crankcase gasses to atmosphere, oil coolers, tank lifts, coil relocation, oil filter relocation, even those gawd-awful fans. Each will bring cooling to the table, but there's no magic bullet...

It's an 06 so it has hydraulic tensioners.

350 is hot. 250-275 is normal for Florida.

350+ (showing on pv) sitting in stop and go traffic is normal. i still see that even with a fan assisted cooler. 225-250ish if you are cruising open road is normal.

I've never seen 350 on my pv with the 124. I was in San Fran and while by the wharf trying to find parking I saw a high of 310. I'd buy fans if I ever seen 350.

If the felt heat is an issue especially at stop lights check out our crotch coolers.. They work very well and are easy to install ....
