Default Front suspension upgrade

So I have to replace the front end on my 2023 fxdb. I already have new tubes lowers and trees. Looking at what internals to go with. I’ve been looking at the race tech front end kit but notice the options for 49mm forks range from .95 kg/mm through 1.5 kg/mm. Is there a correct spring I should be ordering or is it a personal preference thing, if it’s a personal preference thing what is recommended and why? Also any other kits I should be looking at that are around the $300 price range and is adjustable? Any help would be appreciated I tried a search but couldn’t find any helpful information concerning the spring rate.

A 2023 fxdb damn do you have a time machine??

Assuming you mean 2013.... but the different spring rates and what you should get will he based on your weight and how you plan to ride the bike. A heavier guy needs a stiffer spring rate. Also although to a lesser extent you'll want a slightly stiffer spring if you plan to ride very aggressive than if you want a more comfortable ride for just cruising.

yeah man broken wrist has me to one hand. I’d like to think I’m somewhat aggressive(probably not actually aggressive as I think I am) but regardless I enjoy some quick passes through the mountains

If yo0u wish the best out there for your 49mm forks, I have been doing them for many years. I offer the 22mm Fully adjustable cartridges, a fully adjustable 25mm cartridge, and an Ohlins 30mm fully adjustable. These cartridges are what are in the internals of all new Ohlins inverted forks. I have been running them in my own bikes for maybe 7 years and have many installs. There is no comparison to anything out there for your bike. There is either first class or junk, your choice.

If you have cartridge money, absolutely go cartridge. I didn't and won't have that kind of money for a long time, so I went with RaceTech Springs (there is a spring rate calculator on their site that should tell you what you need) and a heavier fork oil. For the money, it can't be beat if you're like me looking for an upgrade on a budget...

Well, if you are going to replace the forks, might consider USD forks with dual brakes. I assume you need a new wheel as well.

I see you already have new tubes and trees. Just a consideration if you can return them.

yeah I wish I could go the cartridge route but I don’t have that kind of cash. I have to replace the exhaust and get a powervision. I did see a cartridge kit by progressive that runs around 300 but I dont know much about it.

I thought about that, but that’s a little more money than I can afford to spend when all is said and done. I have too many projects and not enough cash flow to go around.

If your interested in Race Tech...like DynaKid says there is Spring Calculator on their site

You can pick up a Spring & Emulator Kit for about $210 to your door
Race Tech Complete Front End Suspension Kit w/ 0.95 kg/mm Springs #FLEK S49095

For other Spring Rate kits...
Use Race Tech S49100 in your top search box and change the last 3 digits to the Spring desired...
