Default Vibration

I have recently developed a vibration in my front end. I have about 4500 miles on the bike. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm gvetting ready to go on a trip and would like to solve this problem. I'm not sure if the front wheel is out of balance or the neck bearings are loose from being broke in or drive belt loosened up.

Just looking for a little help before I decide to take it into the shop.

Don't goof around with this. Call around and get an apointment to have it checked. Those little weights can come off and put the front wheel out of balance. Wear over 4500 can require a rebalance. You may even need a new tire.If you have spokes (do not use this to start another thread) theymay need to be checked to be sure the wheel is true.

If you could get the front wheel off the ground and with a little help to steadyyour bike you could check the steering head bearing adjustment. Also, you could spin the wheel to check for run-out and imbalance. As the wheel is spinning, rap the axle slightly with a small dead blow hammer or piece of wood to set up enough vibration to over come the seal friction.

ya - get that front end off the ground and check for play in the head.
also - remove the caliper (remove bolts and tie it to the frame) - and spin the wheel - check for play in the wheel bearings.
easy to spin wheel with caliper off.

Tire cupping, tire pressure, tread separation, runout, tire balance, loose spokes, stearing head bearing adjustment, motor mounts, could all cause a vibration. (Also check rear tire pressure, wear, runout....)
