I wouldn't sweat it if you are just doing the front.
Some of us are a bit mad, some of us did all three mounts at once and have no solid reference for normal. One or two of us (me) may be both.
lmao well I scored both for 150 each so I figured why not. The front is going on once my engine is back in the frame the rear will wait to see the difference only the front makes no rush right lol
Yeah I was planning on double checking the axle adjustment by the belt tracking method. Bad news is I had to leave town on business for 9 days so it will be next Tuesday before I have a chance to play with it.
The more I think about it, the zinc plated bracket on the predator that the Heim joint attaches to is sandwiched between the upper and lower mount. When the center bolt is loosened for adjustment, that bracket will spin freely. So it cannot be used for alignment purposes, just prevents left/right movement once center bolt is tight.
I guess i could loosen ALL bolts on the predator and push the drivetrain left or right and hold it there until all bolts are tight.
Just to be clear, I am not associating alignment issues with the predator whatsoever. My bike was not maintained properly prior to my ownership and I didnt trust any setting or existing adjustments. My motor mount was shot so I opted for the predator because I think the OEM design is flawed.
In the process of setting the alignment after the predator mount install I wanted to understand how to ensure the bike was truly in alignment. For example, how can I determine if the axle adjustment holes were drilled correctly or if the bike was layed down and something got tweaked. IMO if its aligned properly then the multiple methods and checks (axle adjusters, inclinometers, strings, plumb bobs, lasers, etc) should all at least be in close agreement to each other.
just looking for ideas or input from those who have some experience. Thanks for the replies so far!
