I've only been riding for 40 years so I do not know as much as everyone else here but the idea of a crash bar bending back and smashing my leg just does not sound like a reason not to have a crash bar. When I see them I never think...person is inexperienced, I really do not think anything about it. My ride is an investment, project and important for wind therapy and to add a little protection I have an engine guard. Should the unexpected happen Anniversary paint is costly to repair!

The big debate about crash bars. I have 30 years of ride time. Never liked the look of crash bars. If you feel like you need them, get them for sure. Better safe than sorry later.

I agree - but the exception to that is I dislike the cosmetic appearance of those bulbous Engine Guards.... *BUT* i'm not one to tell YOU that you're wrong or that accessorie is wrong,so please just accept my opinion as that: an opinion of another Dyna Owner and rider.

Your's look pretty much like the ones I just got from Dennis Kirk. Had to make sure they worked with forward controls, as a lot won't.

Rode little bikes and big bikes with no engine guard. AT 64 and weak leg and ankle I scaled back to a Dyna. After a while with it, said to self... ol' boy, your luck is gonna run out... So I installed engine guards. Actually looks okay. A week later I was out and my ankle rolled under on some gravel. Bike didn't fall but just slowly fell over. Guard saved my leg and the tank, no damage at all. I know it's not going to be that way on a crash, but I'm glad I had them at that time. Mine bolt on with a plate for forward controls. Just get what you want. They get my vote.
