Exclamation 2011 FXDC Super Glide
bike runs great till you run it say an hr or more then periodicaly it starts to idle rough and a little high then spits and sputters when giving throttle . Then on restarts strong gas odor and wont crank unless you open the throttle . Any ideas gentlemen. i just bought this bike a month ago

Clean the IAC port in the throttle body. Have you checked the oil on this bike?

Any performance mods done such as pipes, intake, etc... do you have a tuner? Sounds like you may be running rich/lean, but there are many on this forum that can tell you much more than I can with more info.

Sounds like an intake leak...when it’s hot, spray a little wd40 around the throttle body where it attaches to the heads...if it dies or revs up...you have a leak.

Ive checked and or donevall the above gentlemen and after it cools down runs fine but it is going rich im possitive. In order to get it to start back you have to hold throttle wide open to even get it to fire

Then it’s either crack position sensor or tps( throttle position sensor).... I would go TPS if you have to hold the throttle open to start the bike.

Havnt pulled one out yet . it seems to happen when im out and by the time i get home its usually gone away and back to normal. It you nurse it annd kerp rpm up above the high idle speeds it runs normal it seem to only affect idle and just off idle. Ive ordered a tps.
