So I have an 02 Wide Glide but I dont like how the threads of the forks are exposed on the triple tree. I have someone willing to give me a top tree and 49mm forks for it, but the lower tree I found is from a 12 Street Bob. As far as parts outside of mechanical like the engine, are Dyna parts interchangeable for those years? Dont want to spend $120 and get the wrong part or it doesnt fit.
Several of us have done 49mm conversions on our older frames. The neck lock will become a useless decoration and the steering stops may need some minor modification. I have other **** going on so I'm not 100% on that bit. Otherwise it bolts right up.
I've got '08(ish) wide glide trees and fat Bob forks on my 99 wide glide frame.
Be aware that not all trees have the same rake. There is a thread here somewhere that lays it out but I can't remember the title for a search. Wide glide is +2 degrees. Others can be as little as -1. You'll want to make sure your top and bottom trees are the same.
You'll need the newer star nut for sure. Not sure about the stem nut and cap. I bought a complete 49mm front end and used all of it.
