As an expanded question to the Bullet/Billet headlamp thread - what are the options for more lighting on a Dyna?
I have the FXDI35 with the small black bucket, not sure what the stock wattage is.
Two questions:
How much more wattage can I put in the stock cottage (the stock headlight bucket)? In other words, what is the stock bulb, and does Harley have a stronger wattage low/high bulb for the stock bucket?
HID - is there a 3rd party HID billet/bullet bucket for Dynas? Does anyone know from a dealer source if the HD HID kit for tourers will be resized for Dynas?
I don't ride much at night, but the stock bulb is nothing like the sportbikes I've had.
That may be what you are looking for. Others have put in the brighter lights only and have been pleased. I can not comment on either since I am still all stock concerning the headlamp. I do understand your wanting something brighter though.
How was the mounting of that assembly on the bike? Was there enough clearance with the mounting bracket that is stnd with that light (designed for fatboy?)
Sylvania SilverStar replacement lamp, p/n H4ST, I believe. Available at Autozone, etc. About 20 bucks, and well worth it.A whiter light, and a lot more of it.

I used the original Dyna bracket ... plenty of clearance ... had to fiddle with wiring a little inside the bowl but its pretty obvious ... one negative wire and two live ...
I also agree with the cheap bulb upgrade (what about a higher wattage rally bulb? ) as an easy fix ... if still not enough light then mount a couple of extra lights on a light bar or fork clamps.
