Default american elite

Odd question here this morning but have any of you had issues with the american elite tire, i put by rear on less then 4k ago and the POS is worn out already. My best guess is faulty tire as i dont ride that hard and the wear bar is gone in the middle of tire even though its always inflated at the proper psi and i only ride solo. if any of you have had issues how big of a pain is the warranty process ?
thanks
kirby

I heard nothing but good on these tires, in fact just put front/rear on mine. Keep us posted on warranty. They'll probably challenge you based on tire pressure vs what you are saying the issue is.

I've never heard of a tire manufacturer honoring a warranty based on rapid treadwear. They generally say the tires are warrantied against defect, such as a broken belt. In fact, working around new cars for over a decade, I don't recall a successful claim ever being submitted to a tire manufacturer! The truth is, this could be an air pressure issue. When you say "inflated at the proper psi," do you mean the pressure suggested in the owner's manual? Each brand/design of tire may like different amounts of pressure. I know if I ran my Avons at the pressure noted in the manual, they would certainly be underinflated. If the wear bars are worn in the center of the tire, that would likely indicate under inflation. The manufacturer would probably say something to the effect that this should have been noticed and corrected before excessive wear occurred.

You're more likely to find some "Good Will" assistance from the retailer than from the manufacturer with this kind of thing (in my experience).

Good luck!!!!

PS: I hope I get 4,000 miles out of my Avons!

Understood. Try taking a run at the retailer... Maybe they'll offer you some sort of store credit towards your next set.
