Default Dyna Tire pressure

I was looking at my manual the other day and noticed the tire pressure listed was around 36psi for rear and 30psi for front cold when riding one up. Now the tire says 40psi cold. I have been running 38-39psi in rear and 34-35psi in front. I have not had problem with the tires, I have 4,000 miles on my 09 FXDC. I want to do right by my tires. What pressures are you all running? Which is correct, the one in the book, or the one on the tire?

I run 30 front and 37-38 rear cold psi....the front tire is in great shape with no cupping, but the rear tire is at close to 2/32 tread with 7460 miles and will need to be replaced by 8K miles. (next month) I keep a close watch on tire pressures and always check 'em every 3-4 days.

I weigh 195 and ride solo...

Tire pressures listed on tires are "usually" MAX pressure with max load.
I would go by the owners manual, and adjust slightly to your conditions if needed.

I always run my front tire about 2 to 4lbs higher than the book and same with my rear tire.

So iam running around 32 to 34 up front and around 42 in the back all the time. And my tires have lasted longer since doing this and especially make sure they are at this psi when riding two up.

I asked the question to the service guys at the local dealer and he said the same thing.

Thanks that gives me more to go on! I was just thinking about the Ford Exploder fiasco back in the late 90's where people were going by tire pressures listed in the manual and not the pressure on the tire. This resulted in many blowouts.

What is needed to be done to swtich the rear tire to a 180?
