Great ideas! Im going to have to use that bin idea to store my stuff! Just keep these tools as dedicated oil changing tools instead of trying to use them where i wouldnt want contaminated stuff. Maybe a plastic tub thatd hold my oil pan cause its big in shape and my other stuff, syphoner, ratchet, funnel, etc.
And gasoline rag. Makes sense. I just used a wet rag to try and clean it up best i could. So happens i got some gasoline in storage. So thatll eat the oil away? Thanks!

Had the same questions when changing the oil in the Low Rider S. Level wouldn't change if the bike what hot or cold, just stays at half full. So far no issues.

well i thought i had solved the oil level issue after my hot check. Its been about a day. Just came back grom a day of errands. Check my oil cold and it is as it was hot after my 15 minute ride! Lassed the middle mark closer to the hot end mark. I read your post on oil level confusion. Idk what gives. Its been on the middle mark since i last took it to the dealer until this oil change.
its just weird cause when i syphoned it cold i got it to the middle mark. Did the ride and did a hot check and it was close to the hot mark. Just like it was today on a cold check. So on that not ill just leave it as it. Im tired of worrying about it.
on another note i got gasoline in my damn eye. It was in the storage. Didnt think to release the air before using the nozzle. It shot out so high pressured n got in my eye. But i did clean my oil stuff w a gas rag and it cleans it up pretty good
This morning i checked it again. No idling no nothing. It was at the 6th X. Just a 100% cold check. It got me scratching my head how high it could be after syphoning the extra oil out and doing a hot check w the same reading on the dip stick 2 days ago. So after some thinking i did a 2 minute idle on the kickstand and an immediate shut off then a check....
So after that 2 minute idle i got a reading of 3 full X's. So i feel much better. I was debating whether or not if i should syphon more out till it came 2 that half way mark or not. But i now realize if i did that id end up syphone more out and possible running it too low on oil!!!!
so from this first timer oil change on a dyna ive learned a couple of things.
After draining oil. Add just about 2 quarts and from there eye check it till it gets to the halfway mark. Instead being too hasty and dumping the recommended whole amount of 2.5 quarts in!
during a cold check let it idle for 2 minutes before checking dipstick. Although that wouldnt be a true cold oil check.
and lastly. When using a gas can w a spout. If its swollen like a ballon from being pressurized from air. Let the air out at the base before using the nozzle pour spout or itll come pouring out like a preassurized washer!

Gasoline isn't the safest, nor best cleaner for oil spills. Simple orange or green cut the oil better than gas does. Either way, wear PPG when you use compressed air for anything!
I finally started pulling oil out of mine today as well. The dealership I bought it from had it filled to the absolute full mark on the dipstick. Had a hard 2 hour ride today then syphoned 2 full X's out. Did NOT like it being completely full
When i purchased my street bob new i got 1 quart of oil to take home w it. The dealer said jokingly, why do you want to do that? The thing doesnt leak oil. I still have that quart of oil unopened. I then switched to synthetic on my 1000 mile change and then to vtwin mobile 1 on my recent change at home. It stayed true at the middle mark in cold and on the last x perfect on the hot check. So i have no complaints there. I happy to say i had a good experience w this dealer. I just had to travel about 3 hours to another dealer to get that. Lol
Dont mean to keep this post going but i have a question regarding oil and summer tempertures. Maybe people that live in high temp areas like Texas can give there input. Seems obvious enough but here i go anyways... lets say you try to do a cold check in 104 degrees. Would that check be just like a hot check? My bike sits outside in the hot sun. When i do a cold check its reads high on the mark passed the middle mark and on the hot mark on the dipstick. By the time i go out to do a cold check, its been sitting in the sun in 100 plus degrees and its 2pm. When i get to work after a 30 min ride it reads the same.
