No matter what you lock it can be taken. Fork locks are easily broken, cables can be cut and even if you put a brake lock on it, it still just takes a few seconds for a few guys to pull up and throw it in a van and be gone. I've heard more than once that a bike cover is a better theft deterrent than the locks alarms and gizmos
well that certainly sucks . good luck with the replacement search .
one thing ... fork lock usually doesn't help , bike thefts are often done by two big guys with a pickup truck or a van . they just grab it and toss it in the back .
craziest bike theft story that i know for sure happened , friend had his 1974 full dress Harley parked in the back of his garage , with his car parked in front of it . came out one morning and the bike was gone , only real evidence was some scrape marks on the roof of his car . after that he had a couple of steel brackets cemented into the floor of the garage and a big chain holding the new bike in place .
Thieves are the lowest of the human food chain...just imagine if we could suddenly remove all the thieves from the planet how much more room there would be.
Hope you find your bike in good shape and if not, that insurance comes through for you.
I had my Honda CB 750 stolen the summer between my sophomore and junior year in high school. It was 36 years ago, seeing this brings back memories. Some good some bad... best of luck
