Default Engine VS Primary VS Transmission

Hey guys... I've been reading a lot about types of oil, and usage to change, etc... But there's ONE thing i'm still confused on.... i have a 2005 Dyna Low rider 88ci, I put 3 quarts into the primary with a new filter, and just recently put 1 quart into my transmission (both drain plugs were near each other). BUT, where is this hidden ENGINE oil plug? And where/how do I change it? I can't seem to find anything. And when I change my primary oil, it appears to be getting run through the engine, as it is the typical BLACK color when draining and looks the same as the oil coming out of the old filter as well... Am i missing something? PS - this is belt driven, not chain...

Thanks

You already drained the engine oil....the missing drain plug you are searching for is the primary...which is on the back of the primary

Get a service manual if you are going to do your own service.

Then,

What you're missing is the shop manual.
The primary does not have a filter nor does it take 3 quarts. If you mean the engine oil, you only need to add about 2.5 qts.

These should help. Also, try Google.

If you put 3 quarts into the primary, you screwed up bad.

Yep, I spent $15,000 on a motorcycle but I wont spend $50 (or less) on a service manual. When will it end?

quite literally every forum post in here states something similar to the following:

engine - 1 quart
primary - 2.5 - 3 quarts
tranny - 1 quart

Not sure what i'm missing here?

Almost every forum about oil on this webpage talks about distinctly changing THREE oils.... and they all refer to the PRIMARY as needing the most, the one that utilizes the filter (if i understand corectly)... the only one i'm NOT finding, is this "engine" part, which again, I always understood as being the same 2.5 - 3 quart reservoir as the primary... i may have terminology confused... but i'm not understand this "three holes" thing... when my bike appears to only have TWO... which ONE QUART portion am i missing? if i've got the tranny and the 2.5 - 3 quart holes filled?

also, i have a service manual.. and it does not state anything about "engine" oil - it only mentions tranny, and primary

hence my coming here to ask about it

well it appears that part of the problem is terminology being used... a good majority of searches online and including my manual call the engine oil the PRIMARY... and the actual primary well, also the primary... I believe I have figured this out.... looks like the 1 quart primary drain and fill are literally ON the primary on the left side of the bike.... and you fill by taking the primary case cover off and pouring directly onto the clutch assembly fly wheel... Thank you all for your feedback... I think i'm good to go now, minus one other suggestion from ya'll...

do you use 20w50 in all three holes?!?!? and interval times for tranny and primary? (i got the engine oil down!! haha) that's what i'm doing i believe

troll? I was asking a serious question, and thought i'd reply with my findings, as i was actively researching and talking amongst friends about this.... i'm not trying to troll anyone, just giving my experience of problems concerning conflicting information on terminology used when trying to look these things up... but thank you for the post, it was very helpful
