battery-electrical demons
Any help / insight / exorcisms as always, will be appreciated. So my wife and i were cruising down a stretch of road when the engine just stopped --no sputtering , just stopped (something it never has done before), i was able to pull the clutch, push the start button and it started right up. I thought that was odd, but we kept cruising along for another 10 mile or so where we stopped for a cold drink. However, when we went to take off i got a click on the first try and then nothing afterwards. Ubbered our way home, got a older battery, put it in and started right up. The battery i took out (about 18 months old) was fairly warm even after sitting an hour. Voltage when bike was idling was 14.5. I didn't think to check the battery i pulled out till 3 hrs later ...but that was showing 13 volts. I dont see any error codes. The P shows "NO RSP", the S shows "NONE", the SP shows "NONE". Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated...i don't like it when my baby is not dependable :-(

It does not sound like a bad ignition switch.
But guessing is not the way to solve the problem.
First, load test battery,
Then test charging system.
Then start systematic troubleshooting.
A simple process that will find the problem.
