RE: how the hell do you install the $#%& grabstrap???
I agree with the majority, throw it out. I threw away the one for my Sundowner. makes it easy to switch back and forth from my Sundowner back to my solo seat.
note on the side ... baby burp rag works excellent under big seat to prevent it from scratching paint!
RE: how the hell do you install the $#%& grabstrap???
Didn't throw mine out but took it off of all of my seats. Serves no purpose as far as I'm concerned. If you gotta ride holdin on to that thing, maybe you should get some more nerve up before gettin on to begin with.
RE: how the hell do you install the $#%& grabstrap???
When I purchased my Sundowner and realized it came with a new grab strap, I decided to stud the new grab strap. Local HD dealer sells bags of studs (same as used on Heritage) for I think in the neighborhood of $5/bag of 25 studs.
I'll post pictures later on. They look pretty good I think. Dresses up the seat, and I think I'm going to add some accent studs to the seat over the winter should I grow the ***** to pull out the staples and pull the cover off.
RE: how the hell do you install the $#%& grabstrap???
I re-installed the grabstrp when i put on the sundowner.
Bolted it to fender.Ran the back end of the seat first, twisted to side, moved the seat forward a bit, turned seat to proper postition, and slipped in it place.
The process is sort of like what I envision a fat woman does to get into a girdle.
RE: how the hell do you install the $#%& grabstrap???
I use a ratching type closed-end wrench (11mm I think) to slide in between the seat and fender. I don't put it under the front mount utill the bolt is tight. then slide it under...
It is a major PITA, but I think it looks better with it
