just got my leather badlander seat for my '06 dyna. cannot for the life of me figure out how to put the grab strap on. it is the one that came with the seat so i assume that it is the correct one. The instructions say to bolt it to the hole in the fender closest to the front of the bike but even on the loosest setting it strangles the seat to the point that it looks ridiculous and you can't even slip the seat tab under the frame and even if you could, you could not get your fingers under it anyway. called the dealer but he was no help. tried mounting it on the next hole back (the one that the solo seat originally screwed into) and even on the tightest settings, its too loose and it's too far back on the seat to be usefull. I have it temporarily mounted in this hole and drilled extra holes in the grabstrap to tighten it up so it looks ok but its still useless, her hands would be under her *** to hold on to it...............what to do?
RE: how the hell do you install the $#%& grabstrap???
I've never seen anyone that has the Badlander actually install the grabstrap.
is someone actually going to ride 2 up with ya?
I put my daughter on the back last week and gave her a ride down the driveway to wait for the school bus - 250 feet and she was complaining about the seat!

The grab strap attaches to the bike underneath, forming a loop, slide back of seat though the loop, will be some resistance as it gets close to fitting the forward lip under the tank. Just changed stock seat on my 07 FXDC to the Harley Tall Boy seat. had to lengthen the strap one hole, fits fine, and the new seat makes all the difference. Much more comfortable.

Don't install it to the fender. I tried that too. Attach it to the seat - there are mountings for it. Then put the seat on the bike as per normal. When your pillion is on the bike and pulls the strap, s/he'll be pulling their own weight snd yours before the seat feels anything.
I hope that helps.

YEP.......... If you're not going to throw it away, attach it to the seat.
