Default reduced reach forward controls

anyone making a reduced reach forward control kit? my wife is really short and has a lowrider with mid controls. the regular forward controls place her feet too far forward. i remember one company that made forward controls used to say the shifter and brake pedals could be turned over and used on the other side, so they technically would be shorter that way - just never could get the mental picture of how that actually would look. anyway, i forgot the company who had told me that.

forget bout that idea of changing the sides
the reason you can't get a mental picture is because it doesn't make sense. the pedals are way different.

get 'er a seat that moves her up

You might want to think about that. Mid's are better for several reasons. If you're really tall I could see a problems with them. My butt and back hurt from no leg support underneath from them.

Harley makes the Reach seat just for that purpose.

Also, heel rests will help out a lot...takes the fatigue out of your thighs by giving you a firm place to rest your foot.

already have a custom seat that moves her forward and down more than the reach seats do.
mid controls are somewhat more awkward now, because seating position is more forward (seat position required for her to reach handlebars and to reach ground with both feet). mid controls are in the way when feet are down and trying to push bike backwards, etc. - hit shins on pegs.

thought about a set of the fully adjustable highway pegs that fit on engine guard - moving them inward and backward, so that her feet could rest on them, and then use her heels to brake and shift. currently going to get a set of the mini-adjustable floorboards and slide them as far forward as possible to see where her feet would be compared to the brake and shifter lever.

I've got a 2001 Dyna FXDP, its a old police model that use floorboards. The contols are mounted on the front of the engine/frame like forward controls but back toward the seat about 2 or 3 inches. Almost like what you are talking about. The bike was never setup for mid contols but they are not really forward controls like on the road king police or a softail, wideglide ect. If you want I could shoot a couple of pixs and send them to you. I've seen them sold as a set on ebay but have no idea if they would fit your bike or not. Shifting and braking with your heel seems kinda dangerous to me. Good luck

thanks rocksandgiz - would like to see the pics
heel shifting and braking seems like it would be difficult to do, but i know a few guys that say that once learned, they do it naturally now, and feel it is as safe.

thanks again. very likely to stay as is with the mid controls, would like to try the mini-adjustable floorboards to move feet position forward some. if i ever find a reduced reach set of forward controls - you can bet i'll at least give them a try.

If you know anyone with any kind of fabrication skill they could make a pair of triangular spacers out of 1/4" steel plate. Keep the bottom hole in the stock location. Bolt the top-front hole to the top stock bolt hole location and bolt the top hole of the control to the new threaded hole in the top rear corner of your homemade bracket. This will pivot the assembly up and back to where you want it. If I figure out how to draw this up and post it I will. Also, use thicker diameter pegs like Kuryakyn Iso Pegs.
