In the 1960s we used to stop at the airport on the way to the dragstrip
and tank up with aviation fuel.

Nowadays I run 110 in my 46 Chevy.

With stock compression, running110+ octane is a waste of money.

Well ... I should clarify.... My intention is to "spike the 91/92 octane(which is all I can get near my house) in hopes to bring it up to 94 or so. I generally keep a couple 5 gal cans of the 110 for my truck.

So I found 1 place in San Jose that sells 100 Octane.

I already had about over 1/4 of a tank with 91 octane..
Then filled up with the 100..

Funny the 100 octane pump was marked Racing Fuel with a Red Pump.

So My bike seemed to run better....
I got Rush slipons with no other mods, so I get normal Popping when I decel..

But with the 100 in the tank I got NO POPPING...
I didn't really notice any extra horsepower...
And not sure how it would change with a full tank of 100 ?

Just thought I'd post my experience.

Higher octane fuel is LESS combustible at lower temperatures and that is it's only real benefit. So if your fuel is self igniting due to the heat of compression then you have a high compression engine and NEED high octane otherwise like stated b4 me - total waste of money and one of the biggest misconceptions out there. The fuel company's shouldn't be allowed to call it premium - it's misleading to the average consumer.
