Default Winter gloves

With fall here and even colder weather approaching I find my self needing better gloves.
I have been looking and I guess I dont know the right places to look , Harley wants $90 buck for a pair of winter gloves so I looked on Amazon they are all cheap around $20 which is all good but just worried I will be getting what I paid for.
So what are some good gloves to keep my hands warm and not break the bank.

Thanks for any help, I would like to be able to ride alot longer then last year and the gloves I have now just dont cut it when it gets real cold.

I use these. Great quality glove. They do run big so I use one size smaller than normal.

I use the Harley Thinsulate gloves with heated grips on my RK...that takes me down to 45-50 degrees. I also have a pair of unused Gerbings size 9 with a dual controller available for sale, PM me if interested...

Check out the Lee Park gloves with Outlast. Expensive but you will only buy once. I have had mine for 12 years now and still great gloves.

You didn't give us the two most important pieces of information we need in order to help you out: What temperatures, and for how long?

You can easily handle sub-freezing temperatures with any kind of glove, for 3 minutes. If you want to ride all day in the 40's or lower, you need heated gloves.

What kind of riding are you going to be doing?

Think ski or snowmobile gear, what I wore in Kansas City for winter riding.

I have been riding in the past in high 30s but nothing colder with the light weight gloves I have but in the 30s my hands are getting pretty cold at the end of my 25 mile trip to work.

So basically I am after a pair of gloves to ride 25 miles one way in low 30s so I can keep riding to work and back and have use of my fingers.. Lol

I think the gloves I tried on at the Harley dealer would work fine but was just hoping to find something alittle cheaper.

"Motorcycle" and "cheaper" never appear in the same sentence.

Ok, you've given us all we need to know. For a 25 mile commute, with decent gloves, you don't need heated gear. Starting with the least expensive:

1. Go to your local home improvement (Home Depot or Lowes) or "farm and feed and outdoor ****" store, like North 40, if you have one. They will have a wall full of heavy, insulated, outdoor work gloves, most for less than $30. They're awesome. There will be some that have little pockets for those heat packs, if you really wanna be toasty on the way to work!

2. As Twizted mentioned, the next best least expensive option is outdoor sporting gloves, like ski gloves, snowmobile gloves, and ice fishing gloves. Way, WAY warmer than any motorcycle gloves, and half the price.

I'd post picks of all the "non-motorcycle" gloves I have in the garage right now, but I'd probably break the internet. Seriously, there's tons of options out there, for way less than $90 Harley gloves.

I've gone through so many gloves....the only thing that kept my hands warm were my good ole ski gloves. The palms were not thick which made riding easy. Northface gloves.

I ended up getting heated grips. Worth every penny if you ride in the cold. Now I just ride with regular gloves and heated grips on.

Believe it or not it gets quite cold here in Central Florida just not a lot of days like that though. I have purchased many pair of thick leather motorcycle gloves over the years from vendors but the best pair I have ever owned for keeping my hands warm are a pair of Harley Davidson gloves. They are not even particularly thick but they have a thinsulate inner lining that does the trick. They are only partially leather and some sort of canvas. My best friend was killed in a car crash in 1996 and his family sent me his jacket and gloves among other things. Seriously the best and warmest gloves I've ever had. I purchased a pair of winter gloves from the Bass Pro Shop back in the spring but have not tried them yet. They are not leather but seem like they will do the trick as well. I will try them this winter.
