Bolt Options 04 Dyna

I need to get the lower shock bolts for an 04 FXDP the part number is 4242 but the local dealership would have to order it in.

I'd rather get this done today, can anyone suggest an alternative from a hardware store?

I believe there is a Fastenal in San Antonio? You can check the marking on the bolt, etc. and see if they have them in stock?

4242 is listed as "SCREW, 1/2-20 X 2-9/16, SOCKET BUTTON HD"

That's a damn big screw.

I don't see this P/N listed with the front fork. It IS, however, listed as the lower rear shock bolt.

So, which bolt/screw are you actually needing? The damper rod bolt? Axle pinch bolt?

Dammit, yep. Not sure how I read "fork" in there. Sorry! Regardless, the description for 4242 was provided.

Local hardware stores will sometimes carry more than you think. If you have an Ace or something like that, go take a look.

Not sure about the 04, but on my 08, the right side bolt threads into the frame, the left has a nut.

Also, not sure why a standard hex head wouldn't work... or a hex socket head.. I don't think head type is critical, so you might be able to open up your options there.
