Wanted to install some saddlebag brackets on my 1200R but the right shock Torx bolt is stripped at the head. Any suggestions other than getting it drilled out? Cannot get any leverage on it and it is on there tight it seems
I did the same a few months back on the lower bolt
Bought a 1/2 drill bit with a 3/8 shank from Lowes for $12.
Drilled the head off, tapped the shank in a little, hacksawed the rest.
If it's the upper bolt, drill off the head and vice grip out the shank.
15-20 minute job.
Cuttimg a slot is a good solution to his problem. If it's the upper bolt with stock shocks, the bolt cover will have to be cut to allow access to the torx head.
