Front end conversion
Fellas, maybe I overlooked it but I searched and didnt find an answer. Swapping my FXDB trees for FXDF. I know I need a new master cylinder, right slider. Etc.. etc....question though. Will the touring sliders, 49 mm of course, work for running dual disc?
youd need both fatbob sliders as the brake caliper mounts on Dynas were moved on up when they went to 11.8. Also fork internals would be slightly different. Other than that I don’t see why not
Low Rider is easier if you're looking to do dual disc.
Fat Bob has odd caliper locations so the hub must be compatible. Unless you adjust the caliper mounting. I used a custom hub. Had I known then what I know now, I would have done DL lowers.
Other than finish, I believe the only difference between trees is the rake. Not sure what rake DL has, but I believe DF has -1 degree and DWG has +2.
I used DWG Trees and tubes with DF sliders and brakes. Internals were changed over to Ohlons cartridges and the wheel is custom.

You could go the route of V-rod lowers. Howard at MotorcycleMetal.com does conversions. He put a dual front brake set on my '06 Streetbob. Braking improved substantially. 50 mph to 0 was 95 feet with the OEM brake and 75 feet(or maybe 70, my memory isn't sure, but I posted the results some years ago on the forum) with the dual Brembo brake set-up that Howard did. It was an amazing upgrade, in my opinion. Jay

While I am at it, I had my local shop, Slabsides, put on a 120 front tire. Much better especially when you go over cracks in the road--- California has plenty of them. Wish I did it 5 years ago.
