Anyone tell me how to 'power up' my Tach ? I too have the dual gauge mount and also a tach I had on a sporty I used to own. Don't have the wiring on my 03 S.G. though...b.

Thanks, FXD, Now all I need is that tach and that connector.

Think I just need to be patient and keep looking on ebay until I find that tach. And hope I can buy that connector marked "A". It really does help to have the picture. Especially since this model tach and connector was only used for a couple of years after the metal can style tach and the serial digital tachs starting in 2004 on.

UPDATE 1: Just found these installations from HD for the FXD (Dyna Super Glide) TACHOMETER KIT, kit number Kit Number 67224-95B. (no longer sold)
https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson..../document/1040

UPDATE 2: Mouse ears came today. Black wrinkle finish, have the two backing plates, very good condition, don't think I'll even need to repaint them. Thing weighs a ton and so do the two disc backing plates. Freaking farm tractor stuff. LOL!

UPDATE 3: Just found this older style tach that looks like it bridged the gap between the steel-can style tachs and the plastic ones with the connector. This one has the plastic can, but looks like it has screw terminals and old-fashioned lighting on the back. Wish I knew how tall that can is so I could see if it is short enough to fit completely inside the tubes of my mouse ear bracket.

AJ,
The tacho in your last post shows p/n 67042-95. This tacho was used at '95 and '96 Dyna models.
The housing used for this tacho is the same as you have now (67338-97).
The p/n for the tacho is mentioned in this ('95 edition) Instruction Sheet...
The pink tacho wire runs directly from the connector on the main harness to the ignition module pin 12.

Excellent info, FXD2003. That's pretty much what I was thinking (PN 67042-95, where the "95" designates the model year). But I wasn't sure if the can was as short as the later model tachs.

I've found a bunch of later model tachs with numbers like

67042-99 (year 1999 - still analog)
67042-04 (first gen 2004)
67042-04A (2004 and the "A" is either for ANALOG or it's just a revision designation)
67042-04D (2004 and maybe that "D" means DIGITAL, which would mean the A above means ANALOG)

67042-99 tacho is used on '99 - '03 models.
Tacho p/n changed in '04, as well as the ECM module.
My advice: try to find the 67042-99 tacho...this will "be plug and play" on your '03 FXD!

Think I might have a line on one. Kind of hard to find, since there were so few made and most Dynas didn't come with them.

You asked about measurement, I don't have an 95 tack. I've been using the FXR ones which are taller than the DX tachs..

Minor thing about you numbers. -99 means the year of introduction.. -04A or D simply means the part had been updated. An -04D can replace an 04 or 04A. Also the -99 is still a digital tach but it uses pulse rate instead of a digital message on a bus to get RPMs.

You can still buy the tach new from HD. Here's one at Boardtracker.
