Default Touring batwing fairing conversion on dyna?

Was wondering how hard or if even possible to put a touring batwing fairing on a dyna, have a 2000 superglide fxd and reallly just want the benefits of the wind deflection and stereo

Just purchased a Memphis Shades Batwing for my 2006 FXDI35 Super Glide. Installed it about a few days ago. Didn't get a wind shield yet because needed to get the wing on first to measure for the shield. Pretty sure the 6.5" recurve shield will work for me. Soon as the shield come in I'll add pic's. So far even without a shield I notice the diff. With no shield I'm getting buffeting at around 50 or so. With the addition of the shield I should be good to go, I'll let you know.

Second vote for the Memphis Shades batwing fairing, It's way too pricey by the time you get done with buying all the parts for it, but it fits perfectly and installs in maybe 15 minutes and works great.

You're kind of limited by two things. First, the Superglide speedo will interfere with any fairing that has a radio. You can relocate the speedo using a speedo mount from a later model Sportster Custom which puts the speedo behind the handlebar instead of in front. Not sure it looks that great, but definitely not bad. I measured the speedo mount from my wife's 2007 Sporty and it looks like a pretty easy bolt up. The second is the little 5-3/4" headlight. Most of the batwing fairings have a pretty big opening for the headlight and it looks silly on the small SuperG headlight.

I bought one of those fiberglass batwing fairings for $100 off of ebay (also on Amazon). Very nice fiberglass layup. Bolts don't line up exactly, so it needs some tweaking. Mentioned the headlight looking dwarfed inside the opening, plus it ends up very recessed by the fairing. Hardest thing was devising decent looking brackets to mount it. Not that hard, but only so much time for projects. Once I bought the Memphis Shades brackets, it looks like those would have been very easy to adapt.

What I like about the Memphis Shades batwing: Perfect fit and no hassles. Kicks the wind up off my chest, but doesn't cause buffeting on my helmet. Decent protection over my hands (which the little cafe fairings do not).
What I don't like: Too expensive. Shakes at idle, but pretty good past the high-vibes area. Single speedo pod looks kind of goofy behind it (fixing that by adding a tach). Can't put a bag behind the windscreen.
.

Here's my parts list from notes I saved:

Memphis Shades for Dyna

Batwing Fairing (same PN all model years DYNA) (Sportster uses same part numbers)
MEM7081
MEM7081-MEB8967 full kit
MEM7081-MEM8867 plates only

5" spoiler windshield $100
MEP84010 dark black smoke
MEP8558 ghost
MEP8551 smoke

5" windshield $85
MEP8501 grad black
MEP8506 grad blue
MEP8500 clear

One more tip... I bought a 6" tall Harley batwing aftermarket windshield off amazon for $25. Took a little cutting on the bottom to make it fit right, but not too much work to save $75 over MS
Amazon Amazon

That's the shield shown installed in my previous post. I got lazy and didn't trim the outside corners where it meets the fairing. Do that and it will look perfect. Has a nice molded shape to it too.

I have been using them for other projects in the pass i would only recommend the good one Memphis Shades the Chinese nock offs are to cheap had one were the fittings were lose and stripped out treads to much of a headache to repair. Shipping these things cost money so they dont want them back. Wasn’t happy with the radios or speakers there nothing like stock one that come with ours bikes now. But they will do the job for more protection from the wind and a better riding experience.

Default Batwing

I have a 2015 FXDB and I put a Memphis Batwing fairing on. Yes I thought about putting a Touring fairing on and I even had one but it would’ve been to complicated so I went with the Batwing, it was a plug and play and away I went. I have a 5”, 7” and 9” wind shield and I’m happy with all of them for different rides

Default another Gladiator post

I have an 06 super and I installed a Gladiator screen on my bike. Super windscreen. No bull. I have no business interest with them, but the wind shield works. The mount can be a bit reflective of the sun, but the screen works very well.

I'm actually painting a memphis shades batwing for my buddies fatbob. I must say the build quality is very nice and zero prep work. They aren't as big as I thought and dont look out of place on these bikes. They get my recommendation. Then again that and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee.
