A few months ago i got a 03 wide glide as a second bike. So i've been going over it and doing some maintance . The bike has 14k miles on it and the belt looks dried out with some little cracking at the teeth. I decided to put a new belt on it. The old belt is hard and ridged. The new belt is very soft and flexable. Would the old belt have lasted awhile? Maybe who knows.
The rumor is from many various sources is- it SHOULD go an EZ 100K.
The caveat is if a stone rips the edge of the belt-then replace it.
When replacing normally both sprockets should be replaced also..but with just 14 K perhaps you can skip that one.
Personally, I would not replace it unless it was giving signs of quitting
Little cracks are pretty normal for the age of the bike. These belts actually do better and last longer when being used, not abused, than when sitting around in a garage somewhere ....I have a few buddies into the 60-70k range w stock belt and still going.
biggest thing with belts is keeping the proper alignment of the wheel and pully. If that’s good, your belt will last a really long time.
99,000 miles on my 07 Dyna with original belt. Wife's 04 XLH 1200 Custom original belt broke last spring with 40,000 miles on it. It all depends on belt tension and pulley alignment.

And how many launches you do with what engine mods/power adders...
My 04 has OEM belt. Chrome went off rear drive pulley at 30K. Now at 50K, belt and the rear drive pulley has a definite pebble apparance.
Other then a few rear wheel runs once in a while if at a red light beside a Sports bike, I drive it pretty easy.
If you are just being ****, hope you checked the hard chrome plating on the rear sprocket.
I would only replace is it had a hole or rip/tear on the edge
I have never replaced one or broke one and most of my riding has been with no guards
That being said, I have replaced a ton of stuff on bikes for preventive maintenance, if it was worring me then it is just easier to me to replace it for the piece of mind.
