12 Inch Apes On A Wide Glide
Hi. I have a 2017 Wide Glide and would really like to do apes but am hesitant to spend the money and later regret it because they are uncomfortable. I ride about 5K per year. I am 5'10" and the dealer thought the 12s would be the best with the forward controls. Anyone have a Wide Glide with apes and how do you like them? Thanks.

The higher you go, the more you will lose out in handling and control due to restricting your upper body leaning and also reaching higher for the bars. For 5'10, stick with the 12's and stock 1.5inch risers. 14s look badass though thats why I went with them lol. My dyna is strictly a bar hopper. I have other bikes for longer commutes.

First, make sure nobody is looking, then sit on yer bike normally close your eyes and reach out to where you want you mits to be. Do this a few times, and where you consistently place your hands, is where your apes should be for comfort.

I'm 6' and got 12" Wild1 Outlawz Chubbys on my WG.
Check out this site: Wild1 Fitment
It helped me with understanding some fitment technicalities.

I'm 6' and broad shouldered, 10's with 2" risers were too low for me on my WG. It put my shoulders in a weird spot. I needed to go taller or down to drag bars. I've switched to 14's with 2" risers and the initial seems to be loads better. With snow on the ground I have no ride report, but I'm thinking it's all good.
