Starter relay or your battery is not good. Charged and good are two different things

If you're sure your battery is completely charged get it load tested. Also make sure the battery terminals and ground cable connections are tight and clean.

Default 2018 street bob

I have the same issue on a 18. Battery is a little week, but cranks up with starter fluid then dies a few seconds later. Thought maybe it was fuel pump, but it sends fuel. checked fuses. thought maybe it was crank position sensor, but with it starting using Starter fluid. I can rule out spark as the issue. Can only think some other issue for fuel. Clogged injectors maybe

If your bike is from 2017 , the battery is probably not that good anymore.
Battery in Harley’s tent to loose power after 2-3 years. Mine anyway.

Start with a new battery, injectors would be really rare. Just because the battery is good enough to kinda turn the engine over and fire it briefly with starter fluid doesnt mean its got enough juice to turn the engine over fast enough to start or getting enough power to run the fuel system properly.

Basically if you already know the battery is a little weak it needs replacement anyways, if that cures the start problem great if not then move on with further diagnostic.

Took the battery off and fully charged it. Had it tested and it was good. Ended up completely draining the tank, and putting 93 octane in with a little octane Boost. Started it with starter fluid and kept it running by giving it a little spray every few seconds....finally it started running on its own. Smoked, popped, but I kept feathering the throttle keeping it at higher RPM's. After about 2 minutes it started to smooth out and run right. after about 5 minutes it could idle.

Put it all back together again and started it up and ran up to the local gs station and filled it up with 93. Ran it for about 20 miles.....running like a dream. So combo of probably bad gas and a weak battery was what I think the culprit was.

Its my sons bike. He rides it short distances to work and probably put in some cheap *** gas. I keep it at my place now cause he was in the barracks and was just covering his bike in the parking lot with no battery tenderer.

But I learned a lot about working on a street Bob so....its all good.

Thanks all.
