so had a leak on the in er primary and pulled and replace the seals a few weeks ago.. it was still leaking a little but was better than it was.. yesterday it started dumping primary fluid after a run on the freeway so went and got fluid and new seals.. it wasnt leaking much at all like it was.. pulled derby cover and still almost full of fluid.. topped off and checked trans, engine and those were full..
disassembled and found the inner primary race was rubbing on the drive sprocket and got hot and cracked. the book shows thats theres no seal and a bearing instead.. i dont have 2 bearings just 1 and a seal.. what stops the in er race from being pressed up against the drive sprocket when the clutch basket is tightened on? i did see the race has a rounded and a square inner lip but the new one is rounded on both sides..
Common prob for the inner race to walk inward. Replace it with a double row sealed ball bearing and the seal. They come in a kit.
feel like the guy at harley should have emtioned it when i went it to by the race.. its pit back together now.. guess ill have to remember that for next time.. thanks
