Is it difficult to install the quiet bafles in my V/H slipons? Seems to be a very tight fit. Thinking about a 2x4 and tapping the end to get them in. Bad idea? thanks guys (and gals)
Just bind some extra tape tight around the wadding, and then you can easily just slide them into the pipes with no probs.
If you intend getting the bike dyno tuned at any stage in the future, make sure you drill a 5/16th hole in the centre of the plug end of the baffle BEFORE you intall them into the pipes.

Why is that? I noticed on teh V&H BSS that the heat shield covers the bolt that holds in the baffles. No easy swapping them now. Unless I drill a hole to get to the bolt. [sm=headbang.gif]
Drill a hole in the end of my quiet baffles? Is that correct 5/16'
As I said, you only need to drill the hole IF you are going to fit a Fuel-Pak, PCIII, SERT etc and get the bike tuned on a dyno.
The sensor probe need to measure the exhaust emissions won't go far enough up the pipe with the quiet baffles installed, hence the need for the 5/16th hole to be drilledin the 'plugged' end of the baffles so as to feed the dyno sensor rod far enough up into the pipes.
I bought some thin stainless steel wire and put two wraps in two locations on the fabric. This is supposed to help keep them in place. Godd luck, I love the sound, deep and not too loud

Airborne -
you are correct regarding the BSS - V&H did not think this one out very well - there is no reason for the heat shield to cover the screw, yet it does. Perhaps the heat shield will prevent the screw from backing out all the way if it gets loose????
Anyway - I had to loosen the heat shield clamps and pull back on the entire shield. Was able to get to the screws - what a pain.
Ah now I see the light. Now either to get a long drill bit, or remove the heatshields to get to the bolt to remove the quiet baffles and drill a hole in them.
I think they did it to make it dificult to remove the baffles. On my Long Shots it is real easy, a five minute job to take them out. Guess I will drill a hole in the heat shield so I can remove and swap them out easily.
