Sounds to me like your helmet is loose fitting. Helmet padding "relaxes" after it's been worn/sweated in. You may need to replace some padding inside your helmet. Loose fitting helmets don't work very well. Try a tighter fitting helmet if no other recourse.
Next, you might try a product by Laminar Lip. www.laminarlip.com
Now, on to your glasses. You need glasses that vent enough to eliminate fogging, but not so much that your eyes cry during wind/dust events. You may need glasses that are specific to motorcyclists' use. Try www.sportrx.com for glasses. (I've had good luck with "7eye" brand glasses.)
I have considered that as well. the helmet itself fits my head well but the issue is the straps are to low under my chin so there's so much slack for the wind to catch. I may stop by Harley and try on one size smaller and see if it'll fit. But thanks for the suggestions on the glasses I'll definitely look into those.
The people at the dealership should be able to fit a helmet to you. I wear the HD half helmet with retractable visor, that seems to alleviate most of the watery eyes. The windscreen I use is the traditional one like durhamman's. The trick is to direct air immediately behind the windshield to break up the low pressure air you are sitting in.
I wear a 3/4 helmet with a drop down sun visor also and when the wind get to be to much, I pull the clear shield down. Not as light and airy as a 1/2 helmet but it works. As for the ideal of a windshield. I mounted a Saraceni bag on my headlight and handlebars and it throws the air over my head and gives me some storage on the bike.
I picked up a half shell from Harley on my way home. It's the same size as my current one but a lot more padding so I can tighten the chinstrap a lot more. I'll see in the morning on my way to work if it stays in place better now. In Theory it should. If so, I'll probably just grab any windshield or maybe another fairing to cut down on wind noise some.
When I ride without a windshield I wear a full face helmet, it does not feel like it's being sucked off my head and no watery eyes. Though it is full face I use a Fulmer that the whole front flips up, makes it easier to talk to someone.
I use wind reducing sunglasses I purchase from Zenni that are very inexpensive and work great, I got a set in my prescription for about $50.00
