Default Wide Glide to Narrow Glide

I'd like to set up my wide glide front end more like the FXDL. I know the frames for my FXDWG and the FXDL are the same ('04) I was wondering what, if any, is the difference in the rake on the trees and the fork tube length ( I know the diameter is different and I believe the length is 3/4 shorter on the FXDWG). Now I am going to keep the 41mm tubes but I need to know lengths and rake in the trees. Obviously I'll also be changing the front wheel. Any info would be appreciated. Also please don't come at me about the things I'm doing with my bike. It's mine. Not yours. If you dig the skinny giant front wheel and long wheel base of the stock wide glide then cool. I'm not a big fan but it's what I've got to work with and I love everything else about this bike. Thanks for your time.

While you're doing the conversion, I may have a few items you might need. I went from the stock street
bob 2012 to a wide glide front end

The 41mm forks & mounting system make for the deadest feeling & vague front end you could use. There are fork braces for your front end that should tighten it up a bit, but the triple trees are what kills it. You either need aftermarket trees that clamp the fork tubes in 2 locations per tube, ala CCE's trees or you need to go to a 39mm narrow glide front end or the one of the newer 49mm forks if you really want handling. The 39mm front from a similar year Dyna will likely be cheaper & will be about as bolt-on as you can get.

Do what I did.....Convert it to an FXDXT, Best thing you could ever do for it.

Mine before....Worthless piece of bad handling ****.

Mine now....A most excellent motorcycle.

Jesus. I believe you, but it's like you changed everything big and small. I'd think it's not the same bike at all.

I bought the thing cheap as **** from a guy and he had just had the motor built to a very strong 95".
I knew I wanted the slightly increased rake that the early Wide Glide frame has, I just didn't want the crappy forks, Ugly rear fender, Speedo down on the tank or those ugly assed wheels that were on it.
Where I live a lot of guys like Wide Glide stuff so I just started trading around and got everything but the FXDX forks....Those I bought from a guy on this site for $300.
I do all my own wrenching so it was just a matter of paint, Powder coating and putting it all together after that.

But yeah....I changed about everything on the bike, It was well worth doing.

Edited to add: I ran into the original owner a few weeks ago and he asked if I still had his old bike, I told him that his old bike was what he was now lookin' at.
He just about **** himself!

DICKDANGER:
Pretty sure I have the lower tree...…..the top tree is the stock 2012. I have the stock black rim with tire, tube with about 2500 miles on them. Also, stock mini-ape handlebars and all stock cables.

What exactly did you do to the front end? You're basically nail on the head with what I'm trying to do to my bike. Is there a way to message on here?
