well I will tell ya that as soon as the clcok struck deprature time! I was OUTTA here :-) and best of all was back onto the ferry with all of the traffic lined up and on a bike you go to the head of the line! it was a weather record setting day in Washington and 97 degrees! HOT (for here), later in the evening I gave my new ridea bath, had dust on my new shiny chrome wheels... LOL,
The only scary part of the ride was in the morning on the way to the ferry I rounded a corner to find a Deer standing in the road, not wanting to go in front or behind the deer as you never know which way they will run off the road I clamped on the binders and downshifted to a controlled albeit scary stop - as the deer slowly walked out of the way.... got myold heart apumpin'.
I have made that very same ride when I was at McChord, though not on my Harley, had a Magna 750 before my Low Rider. You should put the ole' lady on the back and make a run for the border. Extremely nice riding up in the hills of Canada.
Welcome to the Dyna club. Most of the people that own and ride the bigger bikes have problemsin traffic but not the Street Bobs. I work with someone that traded in his Electra for a Heritage and he learned that it even was betterin traffic than the bigger bikes.Congradulation on the purchase. Have you gotten itset up theway that you want it. If not just ride awhile and see what you like and don't like so that you do no spend money for things that you really do not need.
Huh? I go anywhere my buddy on his little 450 dual purpose can go (in traffic that is)...
I rode my 2007 Dyna FXDC to work yesterday. I live on Whidbey Island in Washington state and commute to Tuwilla - just a wee bit south of Seattle, it is a 52 mile ride altogether one way. The bike had 178 miles on it and I was afraid I would hurt it, as it is still being broken in. However! much to my delight (man was it fun) I varied my speed and the bike just loafed along at 65 or so in 6th gear on the freeway. I have never had a BIG bike and this is my first HD. I was so impressed on the handling comfort and cruise ability, it was so damned fun I could nto quit smilin!
Only bad part of the ride was the ferry in the early morning, I take he first boat accross at 4:40 AMand bikes always go to the head of the line. I pulled up on my spiffy new Dyna, and heads turn (from other HD riders in all the bad boy garb) and a couple of metric riders, no onesays a thing, not Good Morning, ***** off or Nice bike! but I did not let it spoil my day, it was a very beauitful morning and me and the Dyna (otherwise known to me as Big Blue) were happy as we could be! :-) Maybe they thought I was just another "poser"... but I am 52, been riding for over 40 years on all kinds of bikes, to include Metrics and took spins on, BSA, Norton etc...oh well like I said I was elated so it does not matter anway.
The Dyna did the ride and never winced, I love my New Bike! 2007 FXDC Cobalt Blue.
Sounds like a great day ! I was kinda wondering about 65mph in 6th gear ! I do not have a 6speed, but i believe i have read that ridin in 6th gear is pretty much for mid 70s and higher....mid 60s and the motor is lugging some ? I am probably wrong on this, But just was thinkin bout the possibility of you lugging the engine while breaking it in.....Enjoy that new bike....That cobalt blue is a great color.
My 2007 FXDC is also Cobolt Blue. Great colour in the sun light!!
I find mine very easy to ride in town areas, and am actually having trouble riding my BMW, as I have got used to the Harley, I dont get on the Beemer much anymore.
Hope to get my 1st service done next week. ( 300 mile round trip to dealer )
Very cool. I live here in Bremerton so I know all about that going to the front of the ferry line thing. Especially helpful on those holiday weekends. Enjoy the new bike.
