An 07 and later Twin Cam engine will NOT BOLT UP TO 06 TRANS. Get a Big Bore Kit and save a hell of a lot of misery for yourself.

These are my bikes. The engine that is in my '06 Dyna was removed from My Ultra when I installed the 120R in it.All the mounting points on the cases are the same, and will mate with your '06 Dyna trans and frame just like the 88" you have now. The top mount on the Dyna is different than the touring bike, but yours will bolt to the new engine perfectly.

I'm I'm getting a bunch of different answers but if he was able to put that motor from his touring into his 06 Dyna it should fit. I guess I'm not sure what to do here
It will fit. Simple bolt in swap.Your ecm will need to be reprogrammed for the new engine. If you don't already have a tuning device of some kind, add that into your cost estimate before making up your mind.

I would be confused too, but it will fit. You might want to check with your state laws regarding swapping the engine due to the case numbers. You might find it easier just to modify what you have that to go through all the loopholes to get the numbers changed. Weigh all of your options before pulling the trigger.

I was under the impression it would fit (as previously posted by another member) as long as it was out of a touring or Dyna. If you end up doing it let us know what the result is cause Id like to know for sure.
Worst case scenario, you just buy a used six speed trans. They seem fairly cheap on eBay.
I forgot to suggest that if the original 6 speed trans in your Dyna does not have dowel pins(this was one of the shortcomings of the first year 6 speeds) to locate the inner primary more securely and prevent inner primary bearing failure it would be a good time to update it. Ronnie's sells the replacement case for it that does have them. Some were replaced by Harley under warranty, so it might have already been changed.
