First post here. Just got another Harley back after being out of the saddle for 16 years.
So we have a lot of construction going on and I turned down a road that eventually turned out to be muddy potholes. I should have turned back but didn't know just how bad it was till I had committed...ended up taking the Street Bob on an MX course!
The short of it is I really covered my new (139 miles) '17 Bob in mud. I didn't get a chance to clean it off real good before I had to put some miles on it so now I have mud baked on to areas of the engine. Below the oil filter, down under the front motor mount, near the front header pipe and between a few fins. What can I do to get it off! It's like a friggin rock now that it's gone through a few heat cycles!
I don't know if this will do it for you, but I'd start by going to a kitchen store and buying a couple of different size bottle brushes. Then, soap, water and elbow grease....
Apply some low pressure water on it so the mud softens, then try to get the most out of it with just the low pressure water and finish with a soft brush
Thanks for the tips, I guess I need more patience...and a short stool, friggin banged-up hip, and knees can't take bending over and squatting any more.
