Ok my buddy has a 2016 Fat Bob, a couple of weeks ago he thought his battery went south as it wouldn’t turn over. He bought another battery and the bike started to do the same thing again on the road, he reved it up and the bike continued homes and he took it into a local Harley dealer. Now thinking their might be an electrical draw they told him they think there might be a problem with the oil pump, ?
Has anybody heard of this? The bike has about 3,000 miles on it and he’s changed the oil twice.
There are just too many questions that only he would know...like what issues was the bike having prior to the battery going dead,
I am assuming it went dead, he fully charged it, had it load tested and was told by a competent mech that it needed replacing.....and after replacement, he tested the whole charging system...including removing, cleaning and then re-tightening the battery cables....you know general maintenance...
Yes he’s done all of that of course, he described to me that the engine started dieing at low rpms so he pulled over and reved it up and it seem to run better. I just think it’s odd that the dealer thought it might be an old pump, wouldn’t there be obvious wear on the engine such as residue on the dip stick? With only 3,000 miles it just doesn’t make sense.
Won’t be the pump...my guess is either the injectors are gummed up, or fuel pump or similar...with that amount of miles, it’s been sitting longer then it has been moving....try cleaning your IAC
what was the reading at the battery when running ..2000rpm?
your in CA you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a bike shop....tell your buddy to pick one...as the Harley dealer is jacked.
