Default 2016 FXDB Service Intervals

Just out of curiosity.....I have always been religious about honoring service intervals because I was always taught it would matter whenever you sell the bike.

Truth is....the dad gum things are so expensive, I have asked myself what was really necessary here. So, opinions please....

I am now at the point where my 2016 FXDB is due for a 25,000 mile service. Is there a point where you filks say....yes, I'm going to be religious about oil changes, but unless I'm having problems with the bike, I'm not paying $400+ to do the HD prescribed service?

If yes....when is that point reached in your mind?

Do it yourself. Save money, learn about your bike and know it was done right.

Do it yourself. $400 is ridiculous unless you have money to burn.

I did the first two services at the dealer. First service after run in was included. Second I paid for, and at seeing the bill decided I had already well and truly voided any warranty. No point worrying about it any more.

Any value you lose at trade in or servicing it yourself you will have well and truly made up for in savings by doing it yourself.

I think if a potential buyer balked because I didn't have complete dealer service records I'd tell him I had changed my mind about selling...

Do it yourself and keep the receipts for fluids and parts. That way you can show a buyer that it was serviced at the proper times. Just because a bike is serviced at the dealer is no guarantee that it was done right.

Engine Oil every 2500. Primary every 5000, transmission every 10,000. Air cleaner every 5000, Turn signal bulbs every year.
Check for loose nuts and bolts. Check tire pressure monthly or more often. Adjust clutch as necessary. Spray WD-40 on front brake switch return.
Save hundreds.

I always do first service (1k) at the dealer then do all my own afterward...no real reason, I just like it that way. Oh and I'm **** at adjusting cables, the clutch especially. I know how to do it but it never feels right and I'm too lazy to go back and forth trying to fix it. I also suck at throttle cable adjustment...
