Default Need a little help with something guys.

I'm mounting my new bars and I had all the controls and clamshells put together just waiting to tighten everything down.

Decided to try out my rear turn signal relocation at the same time. AND...I have left turn signal, but no right turn signal. Could I have pinched or shorted a wire putting the clamshell back together? I never got it right, I could NOT cleanly pull the wire loom through and then tighten the clamshell properly on the right hand controls.

I'm open to any tips, tricks, experiences or questions about now...please.

If it worked prior to any changes, and after these changes it’s not working...it’s in something that you did...I would take that side apart and retrace your steps...sounds like a pinch to me.

Oh! So it comes to my attention that most bars have a 'dimple' in them for the wires! Damn!

What to do?

You could (carefully) make a small slot in the bar right where you need the clearance, or you could make a small slot in the switch housing where you need room, or you could abort now...

Personally, I would probably try slotting the bars just a little bit (no more than absolutely needed!). They were inexpensive, so...

Obviously you don't want to jeopardize the integrity of the bars, but bars often have several holes in them. I think I would put some masking tape over the area in question and carefully mark out the smallest slot needed. Drill a small hole on each end of the slot, then use a Dremel to remove material between the holes. Remove sharp edges with a file or sandpaper.

Drilling the switch housings would work too, but then they're permanently altered. Depending on the gauge of steel used, it MIGHT be possible to tape a small metal dowel where you need the dimple and hammer one in, but I would probably try my first suggestion.

Good luck!

drill the bars inside the housing and between the risers underneath and run the wires inside the bars maybe
seems like I have done that before

Another good idea...although we're talking about a 'Z' bar. I'm a little unsure of how to pull the wires through.

Yeah... That's why I didn't suggest that!

Not that it would be impossible, but...

Z bars!
That would be very difficult and they more than likely have sharp edges inside.
i did it to a set of yaffe monkey bars and it was a major pain with the hard corners but z bars would be much harder.

So, just to be clear, your wires are not in the bars at all and are running externally?

If so, I would stop and undo everything and start from scratch. . . if not then I'm having a hard time picturing the issue. Would it be possible to get a photo (or two)?

To move forward, without re-work and the fun of running wire through Z bars, hell hound has the best solution.
