A couple years ago met a guy on the road with the fairing you have that said it was perfect, tried it and loved it.

I have the vented shield, not the solid one you have, and its 100% perfect. I called Memphis Shades and they said the vents are to help reduce buffeting, something to do with less air pressure behind the shield pulling air in from the sides without them.

If I can offer a word of wisdom, keep your 13" shield. If you ever decide to buy a big cushy seat the 11" will be too short but the 13" should work perfect. I once had a perfect windshield on a Sportster then later on bought a new seat, had to buy a new windshield too that day.
so the windshield itself is vented, not the fairing? I wanted the fairing to block the wind but buffetting was an issue that i didnt think of. Maybe i could route out some clean holes in the windshid. Not that i would, just a thought. Im pretty happy w the la pera seat. If this one goes i think id just get the same one. Had it one on my sportster and loved it. Maybe next time id just go w a dif material than leather. Less maintenance. And maybe some gel in it.
Ive noticed on my loger commute to work i got some buffetting after all w the 11. Not as bad as the 13 but still some. I no longer have the 13. Ive noticed when i tuck my legs in the buffetting decreases to a good amount. I like to ride relaxed so to be conscience and tuck my legs against the tank is a lil bit of a downer. Also at 60+ miles i take my hands of the bars and closer in and that also helps alot!! I have the stock mini apes, yuck. So a change in bars would most definetley help out! The stock bars come out to the sides and at an angle. So im catching air w my arms and its coming into me. But overall, the 11 windshield is a big improvment. The rides tolerable. Maybe some vents would be even better?! But would a vented shield keep the cold out sufficientley? Seems like an obvious no ro me, but i have no experience in that so who knows.
