I used to sell a , (unnamed synthetic oil). At an event I was working, I had a guy come up to me and relate his problems with 2 marine diesels in Jacksonville, Fl. He told me that he had problems with rust in the cylinders when they sat unused for several months. Someone told him to try, (unnamed synthetic oil). He did, and that solved his problem. That (unnamed synthetic oil) has a very robust anti rust additive. All the oils from that company have the anti rust additive. Might want to try that. DISCLAIMER: I don't sell that oil anymore.
Any boat store will have a selection of fogging oil, but you can CAREFULLY put a small squirt of almost any kind of oil into the intake while it's running.
That said, I wouldn't recommend it, I bent a rod on a marine 454 doing that. Better to just take out the spark plugs, put a little squirt of oil into each cylinder, and turn the engine over for a few seconds.
THAT said, I wouldn't do anything at all to the cylinders. YMMV.

If you bent a rod you put too much in the the cylinder and hydro locked the motor. All I get is a puff of smoke on startup and no fouled plugs. The whole point is not to have a dry startup after a long period.

Fogging oil is used to prevent corrosion on cylinders, not dry startup.
I use it on my snowmobile but never on anything else. My bike, ATVs and lawn mowers just get marine grade stabil and ethanol free gas for the engines and a rotating battery tender.
Ok, so a colleague of mine just asked me if I use "fogging oil" for when I store my bike for the winter. Ive been working on cars and bikes for over 25 years and Ive honestly never heard of this stuff. I put Sta-bil in my bike and call it a day.
Has anyone ever used fogging oil?
Yes and yes, I top the tank up, put stabill marine in the sporty gas tank and take it for a quick ride down the freeway then once home I pull the air filter off , start the bike and fog the engine through the throttle body till it stalls.
I pull the plugs and put a shot down the hole just for good measure, and put baby to bed.
Whole process plus a quick stop at macs = 45 mins.
