Default Dyna Switchback - pros and cons?

I'm thinking about "upgrading" to a Dyna Switchback, currently own a Sportster Low which I really enjoy but would like to have some more "ooomph" for motorway riding and long distance travelling. My idea was to purchase a Super Glide and add stuff to it, but it seems like the Switchback has everything I need, plus the red model is absolutely beautiful.
Any pros and cons from current users? Thanks guys

Years ago I went from a roadster to a swtichback, mostly to make things more comfortable for my then girlfriend (now wife).
I also fell in love with locking hardbags years before that, on my '71 guzzi.

There's nothing that sucks about this bike.

Are you really in Madrid? How nice, love Spain although I certainly haven't seen all of it. What a wild place, Zaragoza, when something is going on where throngs of people start singing under peoples balconies until the people poor water or something on them in some party, how great! Spain, maybe not all, no doubt you have scum bag rotten eggs like everywhere but what a great ethos passed on by your better elders and old traditions! I don't think it was that big tomato fling thing you folks have but I remember it as water, maybe the residents were just out of tomatoes.
Then again, maybe you're in Madrid, Mississippi or some odd place and not in Spain at all, in that case, forget I said anything.

Anyway, IMmostHO, that Switchback seems like a good way to go, don't see how you can go wrong. I sat on one of those Sport Glide bikes or whatever HD calls it, now that was quite decent of a bike, guy can't go wrong either way!
Put some cams in it, of course along with Stage 1 and exhaust and BAM, you're Mr. Uptown, especially if you're in Spain, man oh man, in Spain with a Harley, you gotta be:

My wife has one, and I thought about getting one when I bought my fat boy. They’re great bikes, plenty of power, the bags and windshield come off very easily. The only dray back for me is the vibration in the handlebars. Some like it, it’s a “Harley” thing. My Fatboy is much smoother.
But I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one, I would imagine there are pretty good deals out there.

Thanks you guys, yup - very good info in the post. Very interesting to hear that some have a problem with vibrations and that it's an easy fix. Cheers!

yup - Madrid, sunny Spain (not so sunny this year, we've had lots of rain!!!)

we don't get the tomato or water fights over here, hahaha. that's usually in smaller towns/cities. Madrid has bucketloads of traffic, pollution and stressed out people (bah humbug!) :P

30 min and you're out of the big city, that's when you start to enjoy the ride. you won't believe it but my favourite are country roads in the plains of Guadalajara, no cars, big blue skies... a little bit like some parts in the US!

I've been riding for exactly one year. I bought a Switchback last February. I ride it year-round in the high desert north of Los Angeles. It's been a great bike so far.

I upgraded to Custom Dynamics LED headlight and front turn signals. Also put a "dashcam" on it with front and rear facing cameras. My wife and boys all ride as well and they comment about the vibration in the handlebars but it's all I know so I don't mind it too much. When it's cold I wish I had a fairing instead of a windshield but I bought some heated gloves at the motorcycle show a few months ago and that does the trick.

I initially liked the ability to take off the windshield and bags. My father-in-law (who's been riding for over 50 years) told me once I get used to the bags I'll never take them off and he's right. I think I've ridden with the windshield and bags removed two or three times.

Also, the 103 motor with stock 2 into 1 pipes sounds good but then I don't like really loud pipes. It has plenty of power for me (new rider) but I never ride with a passenger. I bought a sissy bar with backrest pad but I only use it haul around a weekend suitcase when the wife and I take a trip.

Hope some of that helps. I'm very pleased with my bike.

I have a 2014 Switchback among my Harleys. I only bought it a couple of months ago. At first I had a little bit of buyers remorse, due to the excess vibes at 2800+ rpms.

I did the 'clevis pin mod' after a couple weeks of riding it, and it made it WAY better, now I really like it.

Like vvatc I like the bags on, and leave them on all the time. It's why I bought it in the first place - the windshield, bags. I sometimes ride without the windshield, due to it having various rattles, but I'm working on taming those.

Plus... it's a dyna...

wow, what a beaut! love it. loud pipes are not my thing either, I end up hating them after I ride +100/150 miles.... cool and nice sounding, but they give me a headache!!

the dreaded vibrations are what worry me the most. from what I've read seems like an easy fix but I guess the dyna + accessories route is going to be easier. I don't care about the windshield or sissy bar either, really liked the overall look + 103 engine is definitely a plus, but other dyna's I've tried were incredible comfortable and no vibes.

I need to try one anyways, thanks a lot guys
