I like the look of the chrome shocks on the CVO dynas at the local dealer. I was thinking of losing my stock coil-overs but got to thinking. How does a shock with no spring ride? It would seem that it would just bottom out when weight was applied to the bike. There has to be some type of spring to hold the piston out of the cylinder. Maybe I am missing something, anybody?
i kinda like the look of the CVO shock (somehow that ain't enough justification for the wife to let me by a SE Dyna). other than trying to get one from HD, plus the expected extremen cost, anyone know of an aftermarket shock set-up like what is on the CVO Dynas?
The CVO dyna has a totally different front end than the other dynas.
It's not just a chrome issue - the shock is inverted, which means the triple trees are different as well.
I'd guess you can buy all the parts from HD - and I'd also guess it's gonna cost you in the $3K ballpark.
OK, so they still have a coil spring, just covered. Makes sense. gman, there are a few of them on ebay for about 100 bucks. Search for dyna shock and you'll find em. They have 11 inch and 12 inch ones.
progressive 412, i think. I had the cvo shocks put on my 06 dyna and it wasnt that much $. Im not sure but I think it lowered the bike a bit but it feels fine.
