People have an obsession with grounds with it comes to electrical. It takes 2 to wires to make things work. Has anybody had a bad frame ground in the last 30 years on something built in the last 30 years? I am sure they have, but not prevelant as people think I suspect.
I get the point since everything is out, it has to be a lost + or - near source.
Well when has has had the battery out and tested, the Pos terminal at the batt has been tested, so its only logical to branch out. Its not obsession, its logic.

It takes positive and negative for everything to work. To be blunt, I believe people who fixate on grounds lack electrical trouble shooting ability. On top of that, a good part of it, is just simple logic.
I do find it interesting that everything is dead. That makes me think not the battery, if it is reading 12 volts. But not positive.
If you think it is the battery, just put the battery charger on 10 amps, and see if anything happens. I would have done that before making the effort to load test it. Might have had info sooner.
A simple old test is, turn the key on, the light is on if the battery is charged its bright,if battery is dead or bad, its not so bright. When the starter is engaged, the light will go out, if the battery is dead, the light will be "dimmer" after cranking. If a weak battery the light will slowly recover to a dim state, if battery is good, the light will still be for the most part bright.if the starter clicks, and everything goes dead, no light, no speedometer oil light etc, there is a connection problem, either at the battery or somewhere else on in the circuit from the battery to everything else. now this just tells you something, if you want to know the facts, you need a multimeter, or else you will buy a battery throw it in and, the same thing
2 posts, the OP won't answer any basic questions such as how is the battery. Until a response is seen I would consider this a troll or a drive by.
Think about it. Why would a guy troll this? What is there to gain? What amusement?
Not everyone is an internet ***** like us. Its March. maybe he is not hot on it. Maybe he has other things going, maybe he is intimidated by. I suspect if he is asking, that ,may be part of it. Maybe he asked on another forum also.
Not denying it is not annoying. But the smell test, doesn't point to troll.
I ran my battery in my Sportster for 10 years. Now, when it went bad, i knew it was time because ,well 10 years...;0 but it got to the point where it wouldn't charge and I knew it would leave me sit if I pushed it or continued being cheap, which I figured Id made out cause I didn't listen to everyone else telling me to replace it after 4 or 5 years. i knew I had pushed it to the limit.
Batter, regulator, stator. Diagnose it, , or replace in that order.
The problem with electric threads, is most people should not post in them. If I was just going to throw a part at, sure ,maybe a battery. But the rest would be foolish. I am not against throwing parts at stuff, if they are old.

I get 7 years usually out of battery. Not sure why some get so few. Some maybe cheap batteries. Some down south, some just don't ride it enough maybe. But I have had 3 bike going at one time.
The bike battery will fit in a lawn mower. I've thrown it in there for a couple more years at times, just a little engine to turn over.
