I’ve been giving this some thought. I initially was thinking 2017 LRS. But then, I’d have to upgrade suspension. Then I’d have to do some motor work, as my 114 Road King is ***** pulling fast, so I couldn’t allow my bagger to be faster then my Dyna. So since motor work would be inevitable, do I really need to pay the ~70% premium Low Rider Specials command, when a $10k 2016 Street Bob or Low Rider would be a perfectly fine starting platform?

I already have the Ohlins shocks and NIX22 carts, and my infamous Dyna Tallboy seat (who remembers the “dead bear”?)

So I’m thinking saving the $7000 (10k vs. 17k) and that 7K would cover a FuelMoto jugs, cams, heads and Dyno tune, along with the ride if I didn’t feel like riding to Wisconsin - and it would likely blow the doors off even a 117 LRS.

The trick is going to be finding a Street Bob with ABS, which seem to be few and far between.

For sure, yeah, you can't go wrong that way, even an older SB to save money, just find a nice low mile one and your off to the races!

I just seen that seat fall on Leonardo D Caprio in that movie "The Revenant"! Man, that seat stomped the **** out of him but he got it in the end!

7 grand in a 10K Dyna Low Rider equals a 10K Low Rider with 7 grand worth of mods for a net value of 10K. Take that 7g's and put a 131 in one of your other bikes. My 02.

At some point if you can get un- OCD about mods you might actually enjoy riding.

You make a good bike great and then you get bored. You can't have it both ways. Human nature

We still love you.

Thanks. I only do about 10k a year (including NY winters) between both bikes, so I’m not quite up there with some riders. But, I do get some good riding in. And trust me, I enjoy it. It’s not just about my obvious OCD. And it’s most definitely not about any hint of an investment. I’m stupid, but not that stupid to think that.

Sorry man........ I was SMH when I read you ditched the Dyna LRS for a 20 ST LRS. Mainly because I have a 17 and my neighbor bought a 20 ST LRS. Sorry, but the ST had zero of the character of the Dyna and...... Felt like riding an import......

My opinion is dont make another mistake..... You had a Dyna LRS and digged it. If youre getting another Dyna get a LRS , dont waste your time again on something else. Just my 2 cents.

I understand the calling. My 2016 117” LRS is almost paid off and this is the longest I have owned a bike. There is just something about the LRS that feels right and no counterbalanced motor is going to be able to replace it.

I might be able to help in this search....
2016 FXDL (for sale.)

How many miles on the 117? I always wondered about the reliability of those kits.

Not enough to answer your reliability question unfortunately. I just know it pulls harder at 80+mph than my Vrod did, or any other HD that I have owned. Torque 128. HP 121

I bought a 2015 LR with very low miles (53 miles) in late 2017 for a little less than $9K. I've since dumped another $10k into it making into perfect bike. Picture in my signature is a bit old. I've since added Galfer rotors and NIX 30 cartridges from Howard. I've ridden a 2017 LRS and I can tell you that my bike is faster and handles much better. I don't have anti lock or cruise control, but for a little more than the cost of a stock LRS I had the fun of making the bike into what I thought a perfect bike should be. I've ridden the new soft tails and I have to agree, they are nice, but something is missing. I much prefer my Dyna.
