This might be kind of a dumb question, but I was just wondering what everyone runs at with their tire pressure...My Super Glide has Dunlop 160/70 on the back and the recommended PSI is 42...my front is 100/90 and is recommended at 41PSI. Does everyone run at what the manufacturer recommends? I'll appreciate any feedback...thanks!
I run at my dealers rec... I trust the Service Manager. He swears by going by the sidewall.
I suspect it is 50/50 out there for folks that run to the sidewal spec Vs the dealer spec.
My theory is the tire maker knows more about their tire than HD does. I have always run my car to the sidewall specs, so when mydealer said to do this, it was a no brainer for me.
Hi, when i changed tyre brands ( from Michelins to Metzlers ) i went to the Metzler website where the reccommended tyre pressures were higher than for the original fit tyres. The bike also ran better at the higher reccommended pressures, so its worth going with what the tyremaufacturer reccommends.
Look closely at Dunlop's website and you'll find that they recommend the same pressure that Harley does for this application, 30 psi front and 36 psi rear solo and 40 psi rear 2 up. The pressure molded into the sidewall is the pressure you would need to run to support the maximum weight the tire will withstand, front 507#@ 41 psi, rear 805 #@ 42 psi. If you add those maximum weights, you get 1312 #, which is more than the GVWR of a Dyna.
Do what you want, I'm sticking with the manufacture's and Harleys recommendation's.

I can never tell when the Mrs. is going to say she wants to hop on and ride. What is the down side to running 40 in the rear all the time? (I'm 250Lbs)
