I've had softails and sportsters, but never a Dyna. I've always lusted after one, though. Now it looks like there's a chance I might get one, an '09 Super Glide Custom.
Anybody have one, or something similar? I checked the forum history, there's a few threads on this particular bike, but not a lot.
Apparently there were some vibration issues that were easily solved. I didn't see much else.
My other bike's a 2020 Heritage. I love it, but I want a hot rod for a second bike, an errand runner, bar hopper and just all-around fun ride.
Should make for a great bike for what you want to do with it. I haven't read up much on vibration issues. Being a Dyna it'll shake you a little bit at a stop, but not enough to rattle any fillings loose. Smooths out nicely when you get rolling @ 2,000 RPM and above.
I have an 09 Super Glide Custom that I purchased last year and its been rock solid. Like all the Dyna's, it has vibrations at idle, but once you get going they smooth out and go away. I took it on a trip from Tampa Florida to North Carolina & Tennessee last November, I rode the Smoky Mountains for a week while I was there. The bike performed well and handled the twisty mountain roads without any problems.
I have an 09 FXDC; it was my first Harley. And it's still my favorite. I love my touring bike, but the Dyna is much more nimble and torquey. When I really want to carve the asphalt, I take Grumble.
I have a 2009 FXDC. Hated the buckhorn bars so I swapped for a bar very similar to the heritage bar. MUCH better and way more comfortable.
The 2009 has 12 inch shocks. Earlier and later models have shorter shocks - ride is not so good.
For a real treat, add 13 shocks like the Legends or Fox. The ride and the cornering clearance are truely amazing.
A Dyna is the most fun HD - in my opinion. And the Most versatile.
Buy it and enjoy it!

Great bikes...I have a 2010 FXDC all stock except for pipes and more cushiony pegs. I also have an FXDSE that is a completely different animal, love em both
Vibration: The front motor mount is short lived. You can replace it with a new factory one or there are quite a few aftermarket alternatives. Also, quite a few threads on everyone's opinion of all the alternatives.
