Well got my new bars installed they look great. But know I have bigger problems. I changed my switches for Chrome ones with back lights but forgot that my old ones the brake switch was broken and I had used jb weld to build up the brake hadle to hit what was left of the switch. So went for a test ride about 5 miles down the road i thought the bike was dying had no power ends up the front brakes were seizing up the built up brake handle was keeping the brakes engaged. I stopped took the handle off and broke off the jb weld but the damage is done the rotor is visibly warped that pads shifted in the calipers and damaged the housing. I think I can file down the rough spots on the calipers and be ok but pads and rotor are on order. New fatty z bars New switches Warped rotor Damaged caliper Damaged pads
I don't get it. You do something dumb with JB Weld and it causes a problem. Hope you learned a valuable lesson. NO SHORT CUTS - DO IT RIGHT the 1st TIME. JB Weld is not a replacement for broken parts. Replace the parts and avoid another problem down the road.
Replace parts??? Hell no!!! Theres gotta be some of that jb weld left from the first cob job. If you were a real biker you'd just get rid of the front brake altogether. No but seriously i feel like you may have grown up without a dad or father figure that had some mechanical abilities. This is a situation that, had you been my son you wouldnt have found yourself in. Now ,since we've agreed that i am now your surrogate dad and you are my estranged son, go get yourself some new damn parts...and smack your ma in the mouth on the way out the door for me will ya son?
I knew when I did it it was a short term fix for the switch. I just wanted to show what happened and I won't be doing it agian. But if I ever mess up agian I definitely won't be putting it on here.
Yeah, ya gotta be real sly about talking about a screw up or just anything going wrong, like..."Oh man fellas, wait till you hear what this guy I know who lives down the street did, you won't believe this, he yadda yadda yadded his woober up, oh man that guy, I tell ya, no telling what he'll do next!"
Man you guys are tough. He realized his error and posted to share.
Give me a roll of duct tape and some jb weld, I can get the space shuttle back in the air, for awhile at least.
Anyway, bars look good. A few new parts and your back on the road.
