Bought a LCD oil stick today for my SG Custom & at $100.00 I sure hope it has a long life span. I read that the early models were a problem but that has been corrected. I like to know the engine temps and adjust as needed. Anyone have any experience with this stick?
Everything I've read about these sticks has been bad. Even the new improved ones are supposedly failing at a high rate. If it screws up, make them replace it with an analog stick. Keep your receipt just in case.
I didn't buy the LCD model, but I did opt for a chrome dipstick for my Dyna. After 2 oil changes, the threads were stripped and it was worthless. Have gone back to the stocker until I get something else. Stock is okay, but a pain to get the allen wrench in around my pipes. Next time, I think I'll get the Kuryakyn Insty-Check that comes out real easily.
DGUIDE04...My Vance & Hines exhaust made it a real problem getting the trans plug out & impossible to check it. I took the allen wrench and filed it down to a smaller size where it slips under the exhaust real easy now. Often simple mods can make the difference.
I purchased the digital read out dipstick for my 05 superglide, Love the function but it is a pain in the !!@@** to remove. I almost turned the bike over trying to get it off. I turned it like the instructions stated, so I took it to my mechanic and we both wrestled with it for 15 min. to get it off.
BigD..I haven't had a problem with mine. The parts guy at the dealer said that they had a problem with a few of them a couple years ago. They will replace it it if it goes bad within a year. My instruction say to twist it counter clock wise to remove.
