On my way home from a cup of coffee last Tuesday a 20 y.o. in a lil SUV shot out off of an Expressway OffRamp directly into me. Im very lucky i installed Imzz Elite crash bars on my bike. My leg was broken in three places and it looked like I was going to loose it on the scene. I had surgery the next day and they expect full recovery. Laying in full gear on hot Memphis blacktop with your leg 90 degrees to the rest of your body puts some crazy ideas in your head. Maybe my hometown isnt the best town to ride a motorcycle everyday. This is the third time in 15 years of riding Ive been hit by someone running a stop sign or just shooting out from an side street. Last time I broke my back and shattered my clavicle the time before that it was my wrist and ribs. Im in nursing school trying to get my **** together. What if next time its a brain or spinal chord injury or worse? I might just stick with hot rods. Has anyone ever had luck getting anything out of the high end aftermarket shocks and pipes from insurance?

Sorry about your bad luck. Last time this happened to me, the insurance would give me nothing for the aftermarket items. I bought the bike back from them and removed all good stuff, then sold off what was left. The good stuff went onto the next bike. Hope you recover quickly.
It's crazy out there, especially in large cities. I avoid them now days. No idea on your insurance. Sorry for your injuries, but glad you're here telling the story.
Whether or not the insurance covers it is all dependent on your coverage. I have progressive, and they offer accessory insurance. I maxed it out at 30K.
Ive never had luck recovering custom stuff but I figured Id try to get some receipts together just in case. Ive had some pretty bad road rash on my arms, hands, and back so always invest in good gear and wear it no matter how hot it gets. Outside the breaks in leg and lots of bruising I dont have a scratch on me.
I wish you the best in your recovery. I hope your leg heals. Did you have a rider on your insurance for the addons? If not, I doubt you'll get anything for them.
I already have an attorney working on it. She was young and probably has Minimum liability which is 15k property and 25k injury in TN. Well be going through her insurance, may have to go after mine too if we cant get enough from her. I bet my hospital bill will be at least 40-50k.
Im really lucky there was an ER Dr right behind me in traffic and was there to keep me calm and straighten my leg out for me on the scene. He stayed with me the 15 minutes or so it took ambulance to get there.
